Welcome to Cregyn Cottage, Mousehole, Cornwall |
Mousehole, pronounced 'Mowsal' locally, is an extremely picturesque fishing village with stone cottages and quaint narrow streets overlooking an attractive harbour. It is popular with artists and the neighbouring village of Newlyn has given its name to a school of artists. Penzance, which is about three miles away, has a good rail service, and with a frequent bus service available in Mousehole, it means one can holiday here without a car. From here the tourist has an excellent starting point for exploring the south west of the county, with Lamora Cove, Newlyn, Lands End, St.Ives and StMichaels Mount all within a few miles.
CREGYN COTTAGE, formely a fisherman's home, is a spacious granite cottage of immense character and deserving of its listed status. Originally built about three hundred years ago, the property has been extensively modernised yet great care has been taken to maintain the character, with open beamed ceilings, stone walls and a granite fireplace remaining.
The Cottage has a small courtyard with a cobbled pathway leading to the harbour front. The small golden, sandy harbour beach is literally just a stone's throw from the back door, but the cluster of nearby buildings does restrict the sea views. However, the superb position of Cregyn Cottage does mean that within a few seconds you can be fishing from the pier, clambering over the rocks, exploring the rock pools, making sandcastles or just sitting on the harbour wall watching the world go by. The village is well catered for with souvenir shops, restaurants and pubs. Click here to print a Booking Form.
